The First United Methodist Church will be hosting an 'Alternative Gift Fair' that will offer residents of the River Region a meaningful new way to give Christmas gifts. Shoppers at the fair will be able to buy "gifts" from area nonprofits to honor their family, friends, co-workers, teachers, and clients. Each "gift" will be a financial contribution supporting a specific need of the nonprofit organization. Gift prices start at $5 and are tax deductible.
The Central Alabama Laubach Literacy Council will be participating in the fair and will have gift vouchers of $5, $10, $20, and $40, which buy various supplies to aid in tutoring students at the center. The fair will be held Saturday, December 7th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Drum Theater on the Cloverdale Campus of Huntingdon College (formerly Cloverdale Junior High School) at 1125 East Fairview Avenue.
